Mountain biking can feel intimidating from the outside, but getting started
is simpler than most people think.
Start with the right bike
You don't need an expensive rig. A basic hardtail with front suspension and
disc brakes is enough for 90% of beginner trails. Fit matters more than
price — a bike that fits well is faster, safer, and more fun.
Learn the fundamental skills
Before you chase enduro lines, spend time on the basics:
- Body position — stay low, arms bent, weight over the pedals
- Braking — smooth and progressive, never grab a handful of brake mid-corner
- Looking ahead — your bike goes where your eyes go
- Line choice — pick the smooth line, not the easiest-looking one
Gear up safely
A helmet is non-negotiable. Add gloves, glasses, and closed shoes, and
you're set for your first rides. Read our gear checklist for the full
list.
Find your local trails
Trail networks, flow trails, and easy green routes are the best places to
learn. Ride within your limits and progress gradually — confidence builds
fast when you stack up small wins.
See you out there. 🤘
